Transitional Pieces to Add to Your Closet: Winter to Spring Fashion

Making the transition in your wardrobe from winter to spring can be challenging - especially if you live somewhere that has cold winters! In New York it's hard to know what to expect, but there's usually cold days into April. This winter we've had unseasonably warm temperatures, but I know it's going to be a while until this warmth is consistent. It's hard to plan what to wear when you literally can go from it being 65 and sunny one day to 40 and chilly the next! That's where transitional pieces come in - AKA fun clothes and accessories that make you crave spring, but still can work for these late winter months.

My Morning Routine: How to Be a Morning Person in 20 Minutes or Less

I've tried just about everything to be able to consider myself a morning person but most days, I just can't do it! It's crazy because all of my life I've been an early riser and for the past year or two I complain if I'm awake before 8. Believe it or not, in college, I was always the one signing up for 8 and 9 AMs too, and since I graduated something seriously changed, ha! I've tried going to bed earlier, trying to stick to a set sleep/wake up schedule - the whole nine yards. The only thing I've found to help make it easier is having a routine that I look forward to to get my day started on the right foot. I'm a planner by nature and I love having a routine that doesn't have to change (me and change don't get along) on the daily. Getting things done in the morning and planning my day are things I look forward to each morning, and it's made a huge difference.

What to Pack for New York in the Winter

If you're reading this and it's above 45 degrees, I'm completely jealous of you. I've been a New Yorker all of my life and although I have big dreams to hopefully be somewhere warmer one day, for now, I embrace it! Last year, I wrote a full travel guide to NYC and if you're not from around here or aren't sure what to bring with you for some seriously unpredictable weather, I got you covered! We're also mid-NYFW so if you're traveling to come see some of the awesome shows, you're likely bringing double/really in a predicament of what to bring! Here's what you *need* to make room for in your suitcase:

The Best GRAMMYs Looks to Transform into Everyday Wear

My absolute favorite award show is by FAR the Grammys! I'm a complete award show junkie but if there's one I get overly excited about, it's the Grammys. From the entire four hours of the red carpet to the craziness of the show, I love every second and everything about it. I thought this years show was so well done; James Corden was hysterical, the performances were so fun to watch and I mean can we talk about Adele?! #therealqueen

Instead of just sharing my favorite looks of the night, I put together my favorite looks along with outfit dupes for each. There were some seriously crazy and out there looks (did anyone see the girl wearing the real life ball pit?! I mean...) but this is the award show where the stars can go all out and are expected to wear things that stand out big time. But since not all of us get to walk a red carpet every day, I found some fun ways to still incorporate these looks from their styles to the patterns and colors into real, every-day outfits:

How to Take the Perfect Flat Lay Picture

This post contains affiliate links. Thank you for supporting the brands that support me!

One of the most popular forms of imagery for bloggers and photographers alike are flat lay images. If you've been around here for a while (or have been following me on Instagram for a while), then you know these types of pictures are some of my FAVORITES to take! I love styling images - that's the graphic design background in me, but it's the funnest photography to play around with if you ask me. One of the most interesting things to see is how everyone manages taking their flat lays; there's lots of different techniques and ways to master the art of a flat lay and while no way is the wrong way, there are definitely some things I've learned that make taking your images *so* much easier. If you've been interested in this style but haven't known where to start or just want to up your flat lay game, here are my favorite tips and tricks to get the perfect flat lay image:

25 Unexpected Benefits and Uses of Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has become a kitchen must have for many people (including myself!) for a butter/egg/vegetable oil substitute, health benefits and so many more incredible things. But the best part about coconut oil is that it isn't only good for kitchen uses - guys, I bought this entire container JUST to keep in my bathroom because of how many skin care uses there is for this stuff! It blows my mind, but there must be some sort of magic in it because it *really* works and 9 times out of 10, when there's a problem, coconut oil can fix it!

Coconut oil is made from coconuts, and its grounded and the oil is extracted from the coconut. The best part of coconut oil is that it's filled with natural antibacterial properties, making it useful in your every day life. Here are my favorite uses for coconut oil when it comes to your beauty routine and beyond:

12 Gorgeous Fonts the Creative Soul Needs

I fully admit it - I have an obsession with fonts. I love downloading tons of different options, mix and matching and playing around with words in all of my downloads. Maybe that's just the wannabe-graphic-designer in me, but I know I can't be the only one! ;) Finding fonts you love is easy, but finding fonts that you love that are free isn't always as easy. I buy some of my fonts (my favorite place to buy is Creative Market) but there's SO many free options out there - all it really takes is an idea of what you're looking for. I often get asked about some of the fonts I use, so here are 12 of my favorite fonts that are totally FREE to download:
