Simple Ways to Refresh Your Bathroom on a Budget

With all of the spring cleaning talk going on lately, have you given much thought to your bathroom? Maybe you have and realize it needs some updates, but bathrooms can be SO expensive to renovate. Even if a full reno isn't in your budget this spring, there's tons of ways to update your bathroom and give it a refresh for a fraction of the price of what a renovation would be. If anything, a good refresh will hold you over until a renovation is more feasible - but it may make you realize it's all you really needed! Here's some simple ways to update a bit more economically.

First, know your budget

Don't go into your bathroom updates without knowing how much you want to spend! It can add up and get pricey, so it's best to figure out exactly what you want to do and figure out if you'll need help completing any part of the project or if it's something you can handle, and how to split up the costs as well.

Install a new light fixture

While a lot of light fixtures out there are expensive, there's ssooo many affordable options that honestly, you'll probably love even more! Home Goods is ALWAYS a good option for lighting - you never know what you'll find on any given shopping trip so always check there. Target has a ton of different, ornate options too worth checking out.

Just add flowers

It sounds kind of silly but something as little as a bright, fresh floral arrangement can make all the difference! They add the perfect pop of color in a somewhat monotone colored bathroom too.

Change the hardware out

Instead of splurging on a new vanity, try changing out the hardware - it'll give the piece a whole new look! There's so many gorgeous pulls and knobs out there, and it is in the details, after all. ;)

When in doubt, paint it out!

What can't a can of paint fix? Not much! I always prefer light, bright colors for bathrooms because it makes the space look 10x bigger. Pick the paint and then pick some new accessories (shower curtain, soap dispensers, decor, etc.) to match and it'll look and feel like a totally different room. If you're feeling in the DIY kinda mood, consider painting your vanity and any other pieces installed in your bathroom too.

Deep clean everything

Probably the simplest, cheapest and best place to start - it seems obvious to give a bathroom a good cleaning, but go a step further and scrub the grout clean, the tile (especially the floor if that applies) even re-grout if it's needed. From here, you can see what you still need to feel like you've accomplished a true bathroom refresh.

Create additional storage

Whether it be some floating shelves on an empty wall or an open storage piece, if you have the room, it'll help to stay organized (I know you need more room for your makeup... me too ;) and change up the look. Re-organizing the layout of things can always help and it's an easy way to work with what you have.

If all else fails, replace the countertops

While this is probably the most expensive costing upgrade listed here, it still can be very affordable AND will make an extremely noticeable difference! Since most bathroom vanities are narrowly sized, you can most likely find a scrap/extra piece at places like Home Depot or any place that sells slabs. The smaller the vanity, the smaller the slab you'll need and cheaper the piece. If you're in need of a serious refresh but still have a budget to stick to, this could be the most cost effective way to make you feel better about your bathroom!
