10 Incredible Dessert Places in NYC

Living so close to New York City definitely has its perks - getting to concerts is a breeze, Broadway shows are 40 minutes away and going to dinner at any restaurant imaginable is as easy as could be. Aside from the sights, the tourism and celebs, delicious pizza and expensive drinks, NYC knows their desserts! There's no doubt that you've heard of some of the awesome desserts and eateries on the news because these places just keep popping up all around. Whether you're on the hunt for a delicious cupcake or something more indulgent and out-there, you can definitely find it in NYC! So if you're visiting or even if you're a local, these 10 places are must-visits and must-eats, to say the least:

1. Magnolia Bakery

Magnolia is extremely well known for their delicious cupcakes and banana pudding, and they've been around for a long time now! There's everything from their signature buttercream cupcake to cheesecakes, muffins and more. I highly recommend trying the PB&J cupcake - it's kind of life changing! There's a ton of New York based locations - Grand Central Terminal, inside Bloomingdale's (I know, shopping and cupcakes - irresistible!) on 3rd Ave., Penn Station, Rockefeller Center and on Columbus Ave. on the Upper West Side. My favorite location is the Rockefeller Center bakery!

2. Cookie DO

This is arguably THE coolest new dessert joint and spot in general in ALL of New York... Everyone loves cookie dough, and everyone loves cookie dough even more when you can enjoy it without being yelled at by your mom - anyone else? Ha! ;) There's only one location so far; located on LaGuardia Place which is a part of NoHo near NYU, this bakery is fun and colorful and there is always a line to get in no matter what time of day you go! There's tons of different flavors, treats and fun ways to enjoy cookie dough - and I would go to this restaurant every single day if I could because the atmosphere is just incredible.

3. Sugar Factory

It may have been around for a while, but if you've never been - it's such a fun experience! My friends and I love to go here to celebrate any event we can think of (for real, ha!) and the best part is you can go for lunch or dinner too before enjoying your dessert. The "goblets" are delicious (but super sweet, so consider sharing instead of going for an entire goblet alone!) and super flavorful. My favorite is the Mai Tai; they also have delicious dessert based martinis, chocolate cocktails, some of the best crepes I've ever tried and the best sundaes in the world. The burgers are delicious and you'll never feel as full in your life as you will upon leaving the Sugar Factory! Call ahead to make reservations if you can to avoid a long wait!

4. Black Tap

Black Tap has a couple of NYC locations, two being in the heart of Midtown and in SoHo. This is another fun spot that offers burgers, etc. to enjoy before your dessert but let me tell you - the milkshakes do NOT disappoint! They serve the most outrageous and incredible shakes. You need to try this place out!

5. Sugar and Plumm

Located on the Upper West Side on Amsterdam Ave., Sugar and Plumm serves incredible macaroons, milkshakes and sundaes! They too have other food, but they're best known for their delicious desserts. It's a very well known restaurant and even if you're visiting New York for a short time, make time to visit because it's worth every second!

6. Sprinkles ATM and Bakery

Sprinkles has locations all over the U.S. (most well known in California) but there's no better ATM than a cupcake ATM, am I right?! You can walk-in to the bakery or use the Cupcake ATM and this ATM has become such an Instagrammable spot - to prettify your feed #postitfortheaesthetic or to just say you've been there, it's a ton of fun! It doesn't hurt that the cupcakes are insanely good either.

7. Carlo's Bakery NYC

Cake Boss was one of the most popular shows on TLC for a long time and while the flagship/most well-known location is in Buddy's hometown of Hoboken New Jersey, there's now locations all over and this 42nd Street bakery is a ton of fun to visit! I love that if you're visiting the city and want to visit, you don't have to make the crossover to New Jersey to do so. It looks super similar and I'm pretty sure it's the closest to a true Italian cannoli that you could get!

8. Schmackary's

If you're a true life cookie monster and love nothing more than a good cookie, you NEED TO GO here! Schmackary's has the most delicious cookies and more flavors than you could ever imagine available. The chocolate covered pretzel cookie and the sch'mores cookie are my two flavors of choice but to be perfectly honest, I could sit in this bakery all day and try new flavors, ha! Another must-try when in New York!

9. Bread's Bakery

Call me Oprah but I. LOVE. BREAD. Bread's Bakery takes a new twist on bread by making the most delicious chocolate bread and pastry treats ever. There are three Bread's Bakeries throughout the city - one in Union Square, one in Bryant Park and one in Lincoln Center and if you're a bread #snob then it's worth the Uber fare, promise! ;)

10. Buttercup Bake Shop

Whether your cupcake order is simply vanilla cake and vanilla frosting or you love crazy different cupcake flavors, this bake shop has them all! The cupcakes are gorgeous, the bakery is chic and fun to be in and the service is great. Definitely a must try - especially if you're a cupcake snob like me!

Are there any incredible dessert joints you'd add to this list?! I know I can't be the only dessert junkie... ;)
