MLB is back which means spring is in full gear! My favorite living space starting now and basically through the end of October is my backyard and the patio space in the backyard. There's nothing better than sitting at the pool by day and relaxing on the patio with a fire by night! I'm a firm believer that one of the best things you can do is be outside as much as possible, so making my outdoor living space as cozy, relaxing and stylish as possible is just as important to me as it is to creatively and beautifully decorate any room inside of my home. There are so many ways to update an outdoor space and honestly, it's the funnest area to makeover! The options are endless and there's so many different routes you can take - beachy, modern, rustic - the list never ends.
Big Lots has been a life saver when it comes to outdoor decorating; not only do they have really great, stylish outdoor decor and furniture, but everything is so affordable and of great quality too! Mixing and matching pieces often works the best in an outdoor space; this is when I take full advantage of fun pattern and color mixing! The seasonal/outdoor décor and furniture sections of the store are so extensive too - there are endless aisles and displays of gorgeous, high-quality pieces that are perfect for any type of yard refresh you're going for.
The Big Lots that I shop at is so big and has so many departments - including the best outdoor decor department! ; ) This is by far my favorite time of year to shop; outdoor living space refreshes are so very exciting! Summer is my favorite time of year so I look forward to this season after season.
There's never a bad time to give a space a refresh - especially your backyard after the cold winter! We were pretty lucky with not too much snow this winter, but getting things up and running and ready for outdoor entertaining couldn't have come any sooner. I have so many ideas of what can be done with this space; last year we bought new furniture so this season it's all about the accessories and outdoor decor. I haven't been exactly sure of what I wanted, so when I walked into the seasonal section in Big Lots I was so overwhelmed and excited over how much they have to choose from, seriously I could have spent hours in this section!
I knew I wanted a side table to put near the patio furniture and I found these that match so perfectly to my furniture:
They're such a perfect height! I love that they had square and round to choose from - I chose the round. Big Lots has soo many adorable outdoor throw pillows, but I'm a serious pillow addict (if you follow me on Instagram, you already know that!) and I need to come up with a scheme for the pillows before I start overloading on them like I tend to do! My next must have for my backyard refresh is new lighting; we sit outside so much at night and citronella candles alone aren't cutting it for me - I saw these lighting options and immediately fell in love:
I mean... who could resist that pineapple table lantern?! Obsessed!
Outdoor dining is possibly the best thing ever, so I picked up a TON of these adorable plates, salad bowls and cups for pool-break lunches and fireside dinners. The colors are so fun and they're such great quality - they look (and feel) like glass dinnerware! I'm already sitting outside with this beautiful spring weather we're having enjoying so many meals with gorgeous place settings!
Going into Big Lots is dangerous... I add things to my cart as if I'm shopping online! ; ) But who could blame me with the awesome deals they always have going on?!
I was so excited to get home and start decorating - it's amazing how a few simple things can uplift a space so quickly.
I'm so excited about the pieces I picked up at Big Lots! I'm going back this weekend for more - shh ; ) They have the nicest outdoor decor to spruce up your outdoor living space. Spring is springing and the flowers are blooming so it's time to get your decorating on!
What are you doing to update your outdoor space this spring?
