Things to Remember for Bloggers

photo things to remember for bloggers post pic_zpsmf1kgclu.jpg

No matter what niche your blog is a part of, it's so easy and very common to get caught up in the world of blogging. Even if two bloggers are a part of the same niche doesn't mean that their blogs are similar at ALL. I can't even begin to describe how many blogs I've come across within my niche(s) that have a completely different approach to a topic or even a different style of writing. No one snowflake is exactly alike - similar to bloggers - no blogger is exactly alike! It's also SO important to not get caught up in your numbers and social media but to remember why you started blogging in the first place.

Recently, I've been trying to get myself more organized in hopes of not focusing as much on my stats but more about what I love about blogging. I think it's important and completely necessary for all bloggers to remember such things once in a while to be able to remember what made you want to go down the path of blogging and what it does for you.

What all bloggers should remember:
  • No matter how long you've been blogging, there's always room to grow
  • There are no rules to blogging - if you think it'll work for you, chances are it will!
  • Blogging is unpredictable. Sometimes the posts you don't think will do your best, do better than any others.
  • Go with the flow and do what feels right
  • Every blogger has different things that work for them, something that works for someone else may not work for you and vice versa
  • The majority of topics have been talked about before by many people but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't write about it if it pertains to you, too. Put your own spin on it, make it better than ever!
  • Don't let others' successes turn into discouragement for you. This success will happen for you in time just as it did for them! (something I need to tell myself more)
  • Blogging takes time. Just because you aren't seeing numbers or opportunities right away doesn't by any means mean that you won't ever see this success
  • All bloggers can have the success they hope to. No matter what your goal is for your blog, you can reach it with patience and perseverance.
  • Connect with your readers - the connections you make while blogging make it all worth while!
  • Don't compare yourself to any other blogger no matter who they are, how long they've been blogging or what they're blogging about. Your blog is your blog and it reflects you - the most important thing it could do!
  • Be honest with your readers! As a blogger and a blog reader, its easy to tell when a blogger is genuine or not. Your posts should reflect your opinions and what you truly believe in
  • Waiting for a post to go "viral" is like watching paint dry. When you least expect it, it'll happen
  • As a blogger, you'll only grow. In so many ways. More than you can imagine!
  • Blogging should be fun!! If you're stressed, figure out the reason and try to fix it - you started your blog because it's something you love and you have something to share with the world. Enjoy it!

While blogging can be stressful, I've learned that the only thing that stresses me out is never wanting to mess up or make a mistake. In blogging most especially, making small mistakes will only help you to grow. Never be afraid to reach out to other bloggers - those who have blogged longer have likely been in similar shoes. The blogging community is such a helpful, caring and close knit community which is one of the best parts of the whole experience. Make this fun - I could spend days straight working on my blog without getting bored of it. Blogging is an amazing experience and these are all things that we need to take into consideration once in a while!

Is there anything you'd add to this list?

XOXO

  3. It's a funny thing how we bloggers could do this all day but other's don't understand why we are doing it if it's not making money straight away. I started a couple of months ago as a hobby and really love sharing what I have created, it's my other baby.
This post is such a nice reminder, thank you.

  5. Love this - all your points are so spot-on. I wrote about this recently, but so many bloggers out there seem to be focused on the wrong things. Just do what you love to do and write what you want to write and everything will fall into place. For me, I love to write (always have) and continuously work on my craft to get better and BE better. I don't care about stats and all that nonsense. Great post!

    1. That's such an important point of it all! Focusing nonstop on stats, etc will only lead to content that isn't genuine - which is so crucial for bloggers!

  6. This is all so true. These things are so simple, but yet we tend to get so caught up in everything else that we forget. Thanks for the reminder!

  21. You made some excellent points! I love "Don't let others' successes turn into discouragement for you. This success will happen for you in time just as it did for them!" because I used to look at other bloggers getting sponsored posts and get to discouraged. Then I started looking at it as: "if they can do it, I can too!" and with that mind set, I was able to get some great opportunities!

    1. That is 100% true! I couldn't agree more! I still do the same sometimes, especially with bloggers that get the opportunities to work with brands I love! I try and tell myself that it'll happen sooner or later!! xo

  22. I am always one for comparing myself to others! I've only been blogging for about 6 months now so I'm aware that my blog isn't amazing but I aspire to believe that it will be one day! But I defiantly need to stop comparing myself to already established bloggers and concentrate on my own!!x

  24. All such excellent reminders. I need a male with a real sexy voice to whisper this list in my ear every so often. Learning stuff every day and it can be so discouraging, because you figure out how to do one thing and then find out - oops maybe that wasn't such a good idea. Ah well. Don't be so hard on myself . . . Thanks for the post!
