5 Cleaning Hacks to Make the Holidays Effortless

Happy Monday! It's a crazy week around here (I'm sure I'm not the only one!) but I'm so excited for it! I love this time of year and Thanksgiving is one of my favorite days ever. It's so fun to spend time with friends and family and it's overall always just a great day! This year we have a lot of family coming in; usually we're pretty low key for Thanksgiving, but this year it's going to get a little crazy - starting today!
As the holidays get closer it's so important to me to keep my home clean and tidy so that the stress of things being a mess with visitors (especially unexpected ones - eesh!) vanishes. I'm always looking for ways to simplify cleaning, and these 5 cleaning/organizing hacks help the holiday stress immensely:

1. Start early and split jobs into different days. I know most of us are guilty to leaving things to the last minute, especially cleaning! I'm always running around like crazy with just hours to spare in the *worst* times possible, of course! If you figure out how to not let yourself procrastinate though, getting an earlier start and giving yourself 4-5 days (a week is even better, but that's pushing it, I know ;) helps SO much. On day one make a to-do list of things to clean and clean obvious spots; putting things away, organizing, etc. Use day two to vacuum/dust; dedicate day three to the bathrooms, day four to the bedrooms/kitchen, day five to finishing touches. You get the point!

2. Give your oven a deep clean, while mopping the floors. Fill up an oven safe dish/pan with even parts water and vinegar; let the water boil for about a half an hour with the oven set to 350 degrees. Once it's cool, you can simply wipe away the condensation along with any grease left over! It's SO simple and you can get other things done while your oven basically cleans itself, like moping the kitchen floor with socks on your feet - yeah, I went there! Can't ask for much more than that!

3. Use the Scotch-Brite™ 50% Stickier Lint Rollers. Two problem areas in my house that are constantly overcome with lint, dust, crumbs, etc. are the bathroom and kitchen linens and the living room and bedroom furniture. The decorative towels in the bathroom and the dining table place mats always seem to be an issue no matter how many times I clean them! And any upholstered furniture - forget it. These Scotch-Brite lint rollers are such a genius idea and *so* helpful to have around the house! This time of year things are so busy and the last thing you should worry about are the little, overlooked things.

Before and after using the Scotch Lint Rollers on my upholstered chair! It's amazing what a difference these make; and so quickly and easily too!

These lint rollers come with 60 sheets each and they make cleaning all sorts of soft surfaces a breeze. I always pick one up during each Target outing - they're affordable and with how much I know we're ALL at Target, it couldn't be easier to pick these up!

4. Decorate! This time of year is meant for fun decorations, pretty garland and twinkling lights. It may only be Thanksgiving week, but get a head start and start decorating! It actually does force you to organize any given room and it makes it look much more put together. Naturally I turn something I love into a cleaning hack! ;)

5. Focus on the spots you can see first. Of course you want to have everything be spotless and pretty, but if you're short on time or want to get the bigger things done first, focus on everything you can see right away. Sure, having the bathroom cabinet or living room ottoman organized is nice, but if you have to choose between organizing a drawer or dusting the blinds, go with what's most obvious.

Target is offering 15% off of the Scotch-Brite 50% Stickier Lint Rollers now through 11/26! So when you're in Target "only getting one thing" this week for Thanksgiving - but really filling your cart up with cute pillows and tree ornaments - grab your lint rollers with this coupon!
